I am an assistant professor at Louisiana Tech University, where I teach World History and Middle Eastern History (ancient, medieval, and modern). I am the president of the Strategic Center for the Study of Change in the Middle East SCSCme. This is my professional blog (I also have another blog in Arabic). My current interests are to use Systemic Theory for the analysis of the situation in Syria, in particular, and in the Middle East, in general. As for Medieval Middle Eastern History, my specialty, I am interested in the rise of Islam, the early Islamic period, the history of medieval books, and social history in general.
